Marketing and Press Relations Manager

Cutting Ball Theater is looking for an imaginative, media-savvy, and collaborative theater-lover to join its office team as Marketing and Press Relations Manager! This position will lead creative marketing campaigns and build relationships with press to grow Cutting Ball’s audiences.

This is an exempt full-time position with benefits including health care, paid time off, and retirement planning. Salary range is $45,000 to $50,000 depending on experience. Position is available immediately.

Responsibilities – Marketing

  • Devising dynamic marketing campaigns for Cutting Ball’s creative and patron-facing programming across all media platforms: print materials, social media, digital newsletters, and website.
  • Creating copy for media platforms, collaborating with Artistic Director to develop individuality of company voice.
  • Adapting and reconstituting key art to create visual collateral across marketing platforms and generating other visual collateral, building upon raw materials like production photography and video footage.
  • Overseeing creation and distribution of print materials (brochures, posters, postcards, programs) and working closely with vendors to complete projects on time and within budget.
  • Managing paid advertisements, using advertising software and liaising with outside services, and coordinating cross-promotional trades.
  • Devising promotions, through Cutting Ball’s own platforms and in partnership with other companies, and evaluating effectiveness of promotions to drive ticket sales.
  • Leading season subscription campaigns and participating in group sales outreach.
  • Working closely with photographer, videographer, and other contractors to collect marketing and archival materials.
  • Compiling content for and designing production programs.
  • Analyzing effectiveness of marketing campaigns (as correlated to ticket sales, digital ad performance, website traffic) and responsively revising strategies.

Responsibilities – Press Relations

  • Maintaining and forging positive relationships with local press.
  • Drafting and distributing press releases and press packets for creative programming and company announcements.
  • Devising pitches and securing coverage (features and reviews) by print, digital, and radio press outlets.
  • Managing calendar listings.

Competencies and Skillsets

  • A creative writer, in long-form and short-form, with strong editing skills.
  • Comfortable with graphic design principles, keen on creating exciting visual collateral.
  • A strong and personable communicator, in writing and in person.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite: PhotoShop, InDesign, Illustrator, etc.
  • Knowledgeable in SEO (Search Engine Optimization) best practices.
  • Prepared to learn web apps such as AdRoll, Beaver Builder, and MailChimp.
  • Able to maintain and effectively distribute marketing budget.
  • Have a sense of humor and enjoy working closely with co-workers, with a “team-first” attitude.
